What do you guys recommend for a cracked console. I used some JB weld in the back of the console near the screw hole where the console mounts to the floor bracket. When I mount the console, however, the pressure from the bracket makes the crack show on the outside. Also, the crack (3" long) runs horizontal and right through the screw hole. And, the two surfaces aren't exactly level on the outside of the console. What should I do? Thanks

JB weld works best when you "V" the backside of the crack. For extra strength, you can imbed fiberglass screen. I recommend removing the console, cleaning out the crack again. groove the back of the crack, rough-up the backside, line it up again and JB weld with the glass. Let cure overnight and try mounting again. any JB weld showing can be painted with laquer hobby brush (spray bomb in a dixie cup)

So you recommend opening up the wound.....and re-stitching. I was afraid of that. What about some kind of filler and Grain/Texture Matching kit? Anybody have any good results with this.....and, any specific brand you like? Thanks for the responses!

You are going to have to get into it to save it. Texture can be achieved by using various implements while JB is still workable right up till it hardens completely. It depends on your artistic capabilities, dexterity and patience.

I repaired mine (cracked mounting hole) with PC7 epoxy (ace hardware) which you can build up 1/8"+ or so..and layed a piece of wire across crack for addtional strength...not sure how to handle the texture..
