Default Ocean City Maryland Lodging Recommendations?

My dad and I are going to go to the endless summer show this October (we travel to a big show about every other year) and want to book soon to guarantee something good. Any recommendations? We prefer something on the beach and within walking distance of the show (we don't mind a long walk).

Stayed at the Commander. Not bad, for an ocean front hotel.

Has anyone received information from the cruise organizers yet? I pre-registered at last years show but have not heard from them yet.

Erik,

Have you ever been to Cruisin the Coast in Mississippi. It is in October also. A week long cruise between 5 citys. It is a great time. Check out there website. www.cruisinthecoast.com

Erik...three things. First, it's not just a show in one place. The main show is in two main locations, the inlet parking lot and the convention center parking lot and they are several miles apart, not walking distance. Second, it's much more crowded and a way better show (IMO) in the spring. http://www.specialeventpro.com/cruisin.php Third, you'll definitely want a car because there are at least 25 informal car shows all up and down the strip each day/night.

As far as hotels if you just pick one of the better hotel chains you'll be fine. You can find somewhere cheaper but I can promise you you'll get what you pay for.

Actually, I think he said he was looking at going to the fall show. that being said in years past they don't have the show in the convention center parking lot. The fall show tends to be a bit less attended. It's still a blast though, either one. And like Dave is saying, spontaneous "groupings" pop up everywhere. It's kind a like fish being drawn to a sunken tire or block of cement, where there is a parking lot there could be a group of rods.

One lead on a place to stay may be the "vacation rental's by owner" website ( vrbo.com )
The bulk of the condos are further up the island , maybe 5 miles or so, but you may find a deal in nice high rise up there.

Stayed at the Carousel one year (not during endless summer show/not near boardwalk)....not a bad place IMO.
