hey guys. im switching out the manifold on my 383. it has a torker ii on it now and im replaceing it with a performer rpm. so how much performance gain should i expect? it made 426hp and 457tq with the torker ii so maybe in the 450 hp range?

I don't think you will gain 25HP. The performer rpm is designed to perform in the 1500 to 6500 rpm range. I do not have the specs on the Torker II. I think it is designed for higher rpms with a narrower rpm range. IMHO the performer rpm is a better all around manifold.

Honestly that's probably one intake swap you will really notice, the Torker is a pretty weak intake.
25 horse is not unrealistic but it depends on where you are measuring. Peak? Probably not, but somewhere in there it might see +25. You will have much better average horsepower I bet and definitely better low end torque.

The Torker II is a 2500-6500 intake, while the Performer is a idle-5500 intake. The Performer will make more power off idle, but I'm not sure it makes better or more top end power. The open plenum design of the Torker is designed to make HP at higher RPM's and I don't see why it wouldn't make equal or more HP than the Performer in mid to high rpm ranges.
Have you contacted the techs at Edelbrock to see what input they might have? |

awesome. im getting excited. to be honest it seemed like when i dropped a gear and floored it didnt seem like it was really getting up and going. it wasnt what i thought 400+ hp would feel like. maybe some more low end power will help that out.
quick side question. im replacing my oil pan gasket. can i pull the pan without raising the motor? i have a moroso stroker/kicked out pan. ive pulled them off of c3 vettes without raising the motor. but ive never tried my camaro

I just put a Torker 2 on my 408,but I have to admit it is a weak intake in stock form. All the bad points of a single plane and none of the good ones.It was really designed in a era when a 327 was a typical small block and 461 camel hump heads were big.I did a lot of port work on mine and will soon be adding a 1.5" tapered spacer. On a 327,the Torker2 might be a 2000 to 6000 rpm intake, but even with all the port work I did,and the carb spacer,on a 383 or 406,it is a 1500 to 5000 rpm peice.I have a set of ported stock 461 heads and a small 222 at .050 cam and want the car to run and drive like stock,so the intake is a match for me,but I wouldnt consier combo to be a very high power peice.

The performer RPM will make more hp and def. more torque than the torker just because of the fact it doesn't suck.

Put an inch spacer on it and you'll see 5-15 hp.
