Default 73 Camaro - What's it worth?

Found this on local Craig's list. I know bunch of info is missing to really price the car right. I am starting to look into 70-73 camaros so I can familiarize myself with current prices as maybe down the road I'll get one. The asking price for this one is $6K and I was wondering what everyone thought?

body condition is everything on a car like that . just a plane jane camaro. rust will cost a lot of money and time to repair as it rears its ugly head in the worst spots on these cars. it all depends on what your intentions are with the purchase, resto mod, daily driver , or all original stock. 6 grand is about right for a car with no rust. that being said , they all have rust somewhere. not a lot of info on the car so hard to determine condition

Think of it like this. You cant get much more then a solid roller with lots of missing parts fo 3 grand,so I would say 5 grand even if there are a few hidden sins.Beside rust, you have to figure that even as a rnning car it cold need a lot of going over.Wiring could be a mess, lots of uber fuel ose, spark plugwires all over he placeyou know the deal.As cruiser it is worth it.Scufit down and hae itshotwth fresh pint, add some updated wheels and tires and go over all the nickle and dime stuff it could be a cool driver.

I have owned about 15 of these cars and only found 1 with rusted rear rails and rust under the rear seat area.Trunk floor rust is fairly common, and V top cars rust under the roof, but the rest of the sual rust is on the outer sheet metal or flat parts of the floors.

Thanks everyone for all the good input. I found another one (1972 z-28 RS) on Craigs list but this one appears to be a very serious car at least based on the price ($31,500)...

Wasn't 72 or really the 71 1/2 the special car?

the way i see it 73 was the year by itself, you had regulations first time ever on it and it looked the same as 71 and 72. Around in socal you can find these cars really cheap and true rs for less than 3000 but seriously there are some real dreamers when it comes to the prices of second gen's.

yeah because they are more rare and quite frankly sexier, my opinion a 70's RS is second sexiest behind 69 RS. Depending on the motor and color and options RS when restored or original are worth way more than non RS models. You can decide what you like but you dont need to spend alot of money buying something that is way overpriced.

in my area (Southern California) they pop up like crazy and you can buy non-matching RS for 4 to 5 thats painted and ready to go but might need some work. (like tlc and interior and etc..)

My 70 RS totally restored is worth around $35K book value. Identical to Papa Johns pizza car. I saw one at BArret Jackson going for $43K. Need to be RS with other options (SS or Z28) to get this kind of money.
