seat belt retractor recoil band
Anyone every disassemble and reassemble the recoil mteal band in a retractor? I accidently opened one side of the seat belt rubber trim and it popped out!

Yes, I have restored them. Just coil it back up while you test it to get the correct tension. You must have cut the cover the see the spring.

I have found that putting some grease between the retractor cyclinder and metal bracket helps a bunch. This keeps the retractor retracting all the way back up, eliminating hitting the buckle on the side of the car!!
