Default Need help installing my Cowl Induction Air Cleaner

I am close to getting the project on the road, but being held up because my Cowl Induction air cleaner is not going to fit into the opening of the aftermarket cowl induction hood. All parts are from Ricks and I figured a BB cowl induction system and the aftermarket hood would line up correctly. When the bodyman installed the hood, he noticed there was about 1 inch offset between air cleaner and hood which was enough to not allow the hood to close. Makes sense because the car has a BB with the correct motor mt's and stands moving the engine 1 inch to the passengers side. This is a left/right issue and the depth of the air cleaner into the hood wont be a problem.
Is there a fix for this?

Thx everyone.

Normally the top of the air filter isn't high enough to need to go through the hole in the hood. Do you have a filter that is taller than 3 inches?

you got a 14 inch filter?....go with the smaller diameter k/n filter with the filter element on top...dont know if they make a 12"...but a 10 would work fine...1 3/4"drop base

i just noticed "cowl induction" air cleaner....if your wanting to keep everything stock...nevermind what i said..

Ok, now I'm trackin. The body man attached the hood and noticed that the air cleaner was not going to clear. He then called me to explain the situation.
I am not familiar with the super scoop set up and I thought the air cleaner sat up into the hole of the cowl induction hood with the rubber gasket pressing up and around the perimeter. I am using a phenolic spacer that is probably causing the carb and air cleaner to sit up too high. I'll shave it till I get clearance.
Thx Jon

Thx Fred, I knew you had a BB in your 69 and was going to PM you on how yours works. I think I may go your route. It looks real good and I dont really want to use the snorkel air cleaner.
