Default Question about new Gas Gauge?

I bought a new gas gauge from YearOne.
The old one had an external resistor (it measured out @ 90 ohms) on the back of it and
the new one does not have that.

Is the resistor required for the new gauge? Should I save it and re-use it?

Thanks.

Measure the tan wire to the sending unit to ground and read the ohmic value.
90 is full, 45 is half, 22 is 1/4, approximate.
Then hokk up hook up the gauge both ways, with and without.
Choose the route giving the better approx reading.
You can always add or remove the resistor later.
