[Pro Tour RS]

Has anyone heard or know of someone that has used a 334ci stroker kit in a 305? I heard about this kit from someone here on the forum , and am intersted in it. Since this is my first engine rebuild, I am looking for as much feedback as I can get! Or does anyone have any suggestions for builing a decent 305 worth about 280 to 300 horses? Thanks John

For the cost of the stroker kit, you could get a 350. The 350s bigger bores improve breathing by unshrouding the valves and you can use the bigger valves. For some reason, I'm thinking you can't use 2.02 and 1.60 valves in a 305, the bore isn't big enough (anyone, slap me down if I'm wrong).

If you're running a computerized engine, you'll have to make programming modifications for the larger 334 anyway.

I just sold a 334 / 700R4 package I had built for a customer to someone. It was very strong in a 85 Trans Am. He wrecked the car and sold me the whole thing back cheap. We used World Products SR torquer heads, KB pistons, all good stuff. It did NOT require any type of fuel system modifications. Thats why he chose to do it rather than go with the 350. We took the entire tuned port setup off the 305 and stuck it on the finished 336. If you dont mind changine injectors, and you might not even have to do that depending on how strong a 350 you build, then the 350 is probably the less expensive way to go. If you decide on the stroker, let me know and I will e-mail you a list of parts we used. It was a pretty awsome combination.

Cool, Ive been getting so many mixed answers. Its cool to see someone that has used and built a 334. Im definately gonna do it!! Know I need to find out were I can get the kit! Ive heard about a company called RHS performance in Tenessee. Ill have to get in touch with them!! Or get my mits on the parts! Thanks Bill and gheatly

Just got my new Super Chevy and there's an ad for the kit from "Powerhouse". Ph no. is (661)861-0167.

They want $599 for the kit incl. a crank, rods, pistons, rings and bearings. Not bad ..except......

I only paid $550 for the same type of kit for my 400 SB - so I ended up about 70 more cubic inches for the same money. It's something to think about anyway.
