I'm going to put my order in for AFRs,so I'm trying to get these details squared away.I have a set of dynomax cerama coated headers,and the bottom corners of the D shaped ports are cut off when I mount them.I got the headers from summit so I can still return them if necessary.Do I have to go to 1 3/4" headers in order to eliminate this clearance problem? Are there any differences between angle plug and straight plug as far as performance? I'm just trying to figure out what plug I'll need with what headers to make sure that the 2 will properly work together.Thanks

Supposedly Dynomax & o rHeadman hustlers will fit AFR Angle plugged head. I recently puraches a set of SBC 195 cc Angle plug head. I had the same question you had so I called them. Thier phone # is on the website. They told me that dynomax headrs do fit thier head.

That's odd. I had a set of dynomax headers on my angle plug heads and they fit for **** .

So what are the advatages and disadvantages on these two types of heads. I don't really care about what header fits and what doesn't.
As far as Dynomax headers are concerned, IMHO, you get what you pay for. I tried Dynomax's on my 69 and I exchanged them towards Hooker's.

i have the afr 195 and the heddman 1.3/4 hedder. this hedder is a square port hedder. i have not put the motor together yet so this may not help. afr told me to use the heddman hedder, i didnt ask why, i figured they have been there done that.

the old school rule of thumb was you did not need angle plug if using less than 11.5 to 1 compression. I think you can always get a little better burn with them regardless.

AFRs angle is kind of down and away and in most cases, will clear headers. small 90degree boots are a must.

Go with the straight plugs... Unless you race competively and are doing things like indexing your plugs, looking for every ounce of extra power you won't really realize the difference.

I have SportsmanII's with angle plugs and header choices are limited and short plugs are harder to find and cost a bit more... If I had it to do over I'd get straight plugs.

I just received my AFR 195 Street heads via FedEx this morning...straight plug, 74cc version with heat risers. Flow 264/196 @ .600 lift.
FYI, I measured the exhaust ports where they exit to the header. Looks like 1 5/16" square.
