1st - sorry for my long absence.
I am finally installing the in-dash tach that has been sitting on my workbench for probably 2 years. I will be moving my fuel gauge to a 4-gauge cluster under the ashtray (the current 3-gauge looks very nice). It has been probably 4 years since I pulled the instruments out to RE-ground the dash and get my fuel gauge working. So, I am looking for shortcuts (expertise). Do I need to drop the steering column? I would think that I will have to remove the speedo cable from behind prior to popping it out. Other than the 4 sheet metal screws, are there any other attachment point. Please hold my hand! ![]() Thanks! Strick p.s. second post immediately following.

I've found that dropping the column first and removing the cluster screws alows for the easiest access to the back of the cluster panel. Unscrew speedo cable, unplug wiring harness and unplug highbeam light. With a bit of wiggling, the dash will come out, hope this helps...
