Default help me pick a compressor

So im looking to purchase a new compressor and im looking for some advice.
I want to spend $500 or less and it has to be a 120v since i dont have access to a 240v line.

It may be a long shot but i would like something that would hold up to me spraying primer on my car.
but its main use will be air tool use on the weekends.

Any suggestions?

for spaying you will need approx 9 cfm @ around 80 psi

There is an older thread on the subject around 6 to 9 months ago.

Can you find a friend who can wire a proper 240v outlet for you?

If you have a laundry room near adjacent to your garage - wiring 220 to the garage off the dryer outlet should be easy to do. If your fuse box is in your garage it would be very easy to wire a 220 outlet.

I bought the 60 gallon compressor from Lowes. It is a Kobalt. I wired in my own 240 breaker in my box in the garage. Guy at Lowes drew a diagram and it was really easy actually. So dont let 240 compressor deter you from getting one. It was harder to knock out the metal plates for the breaker in the box, than it was to wire it up. I gave 400 for mine. Works great for what I need it to do. I have not sprayed with it, but it runs all my tools fine... I am sure if you have a HVLP spray gun, it will work fine.

jw, I know you said new compressors, but I have a sears 175psi 110v 2-stage oiless similar to the one in the link, that is collecting dust in my garage. I bought it new and it worked fine last time I used it, but would not keep up with my glass beader. For other air tools (except for da that need a LOT of air for a long time) and for primer painting this should work fine. Yes it is an oiless, so it is noiser than an oiled type, but the price will be well below $500 PM me if interested, I am near Great Adventure, so not too far away.
