Just put the VIN in the search feature here at this site and see what you find:

Mike, I ran the Vin, nothing came up. Is it 12437 as in the link or is the 7 a 1 as on the block stamp?

The 7 is correct. I ran the VIN and it came up with the previous thread that was refered to.

So the 1 (first digit) on the engine stamp is really a 7? When compairing it to the other 7 on the pad, they look completely different. Was that normal?

I've have no experience at all when it comes to 69's, just trying to learn something on this one.

Thanks,
Paul

No
The "Partial" on the pad is a derivitive of the full VIN used to ID parts.
Format is;
1 = Chevrolet Division
9 = 1969 Model Year
N = Norwood, Ohio final assembly plant
5XXXXX = full sequencial number of vehicle.

Mike searched using the actual VIN, which he can guess at by the 'partial' given.
Format would be;
1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = V8 engine
37 = Sport Coupe designation for body type
9 = 1969 Model Year
N = Norwood
5XXXXX = sequencial number

Once you've looked at the numbers for awhile is becomes second nature to interchange them
