17104 here, but I used two 3" bullet glasspack under the seat (about the same as 17129 ) to quieten down some of the resonation.
I can hear my cell phone ring now.

i had the crossflow kit under my Nova- the sound was awesome and it had awesome ground clearance. when i added an X pipe later on, the sound was even more awesome..
it was also fun watching know-it-all "experts" get all confused when they looked under my car and couldn't find a muffler.

Hey JeffLund,
With the different Flowmaster kits available for the first gen Camaro, the power ratings are different for each application. The systems available for your car have 2.5” or 3” diameter tubing. Make sure to choose the right tubing size for your application.
As a general rule… Power-adders (blowers and turbos) on big and small engines and higher revving engines built for top-end performance do well with 3” because they need to breathe. Naturally aspirated engines built to make lower-end power (peak power under 5500RPM’s) do well with 2.5” tubing to add a little back-pressure. We’ve seen 12-second daily-driven single-carbed 500HP 427 Camaros perform awesome as an all-around (street, strip, and road course) car with 2.5” tubing. So application is everything.
Is your car a full-blown race car or a street car? Do you have a supercharger or a turbo? If your Camaro is a mildly modified small-block that’s mostly driven on the street, a 2.5” system is probably the best system for your car.
The next deciding factor is muffler selection. Of each of the American Thunder kits the mufflers are different models and have a different sound. They range from “moderate” (80 Series crossflow muffler) to “aggressive” (Super 40 Series muffler). Check the sound levels with each kit.
The mandrell-bent tubing that comes standard with all of our kits performs much better than what the average crush-and-bend exhaust system you’ll get at your typical muffler shop.

The 17104 is one of our favorite kits because it gives the most ground clearance and has a great distinct Flowmaster crossflow muffler sound.

Have a Great New Year!

Their crossflow (the one being talked about) is 2 mufflers in one.

What I did after installing the 17104 set up. It was beginning to be a problem cranking up my sbc car early in the mornings, so I installed the 3" Dynomax bullet glass packs in front of the transverse. The car is a lot quieter now, can hear my cell phone ring. Has the factory deep tone note it had when car was new. Sorta like the super stock sound of a rear muffler vette. My pipes are 2.5" all the way out back.
Mid 80's Flowmaster did not make or could not find their transvers muffler to replace the stock style transverse. I modified a Buick GN transverse to work. Same design just about 2" shorter in length. Worked well until they came out with the 17104K. Pardon the grunge pit but we go back many years and many miles. Lots of Quakerstate under coating here when car was new. Amazing it has clung to the gas tank that well.
