Default 327 2bbl thrashed my crossmember

I have been gutting my 68 vert the last few days. Scraped a lot of grease off the crossmember today. I found the crossmember layers separated for the most part. Then I looked close, saw this!

Has anyone seen anything like this....327/210 and Glide with 2.73 gears
So far as I can tell this Vert has been a cruiser its whole life....

If you're running a Fat Boy, 4-spd, DRs/slicks, then ya may want to look at your junk

That's odd! I wonder if the car could have been driven over something or somebody tried to jack up under the crossmember?

Drill a hole in the end of the crack and weld it. Old crack, may have been improperly spot welded at time of manufacture.

Might be someone drove around with a broken motor mount for awhile.

This pretty well explains some clunking I have felt....that and cutting off the old exhaust!

Unsure how it happened but I'll get it fixed. Quite a shocker!
