Default How to remove rear seat 69

Going to remove the rear seat bottom on my 69 SS non folding rear seat to install new carpet and seat belts. How do I get the bottom cushion out? does it bolt or snap in place?

It just snaps in. Feel under each side and there's a little bracket on the floor. The metal frame slides into it. You should be able to see them once you pull the front seats out and can get your head in there. You pretty much have to get in a four point stance and push it backwards like you're driving a blocking sled. It'll spring backwards a couple of inches and then up out of the bracket. Cursing a lot helps also.

Push up slightly and with your knee kick the seat back and it should pop right out...

If it has not been out for decades....it will not pop up as easy as the guys above say.
you should be able to look under with the front seat out to see how it unclips.
BUT it is always easier to push real hard rearwards and down to un clip IF the front seat is still bolted in so you can use that to put your weight against

Push on the bottom steel edge about 1" in from where it curves at each side.
you weill feel it 'give' push back...then at the same time sort of push down and up...
If you do not get a sweat up you are not pushing hard enough..I mean that literally

So it all sounds a mission, but once you do have it out it sort of..."hmm now I see it in the 'daylight' thats no big deal"

In addition to the helpful posts above, I've always found that copious cursing made me feel better when the seat refused to move.

This may help, I've never been able to pop them out as easy as he makes it look.

Thank you!! I'll give it a shot later on this weekend. Maybe I'll find something behind there. Always wanted to find the factory printout sheet, but I know it's had interior put in it several times. Thanks again!

Wish I had a close up but you can see the 2 reverse slotted parts on the floor in this pic, below the orange arrows. The seat frame steel bars slide into those slots and drop down to more or less lock in. Push backwards and up at the same time, knees come into play here, and it should release. Its a pain but doable.

I blew that part up now, hope this helps you see what you cant see under the seat.

The first time I ever tried to get my seat out was so frustrating. Probably would have burned the car down but it was in my garage.
