Default 151 cam vs. comp 268h?

Ok, I have another thread going, but I am updating this, so if one needs to be closed, that's fine. The other one kind of got lost in the weeds.

So, I think I have a 151 cam in my ride, or close to it.
327 .030 over 9.4 compression, 4 speed 3.25 gears
cam: ~.445 lift, 221/224 @50 duration, 114 lobe sep intake closes 42deg. etc

and I have a comp 268h 218/218/ .454 110 lobe setp...sitting right here, that I was going to throw in, but I am not sure if I should do it?

everything I see has that 151 cam at 10:1 compression, and I have 9.4.... so, would I benefit from this swap? The current cam seems to peter off around 5k or maybe a little more.....

Thanks!

I'm guessing you'd get a little more bottom end out of the 268H because of the lower duration and tighter lobe sep angle. I'm thinking (from memory) the 327/350HP that used the -151 cam also had 11:1 and 2.02's to get to 350 HP.

I just installed a crane 272H10 in my 327 which is very close to that 268H at 216/216 and .454/.454" Wish I could tell you more but the roads are still too messy to drive it!!

Where's PDQ when you need him? (Oh, nevermind...I remember...)

Yep, same thing except for just a little less duration @.050 so it would raise dcr etc..... but I got my comp cams cam and lifter kit plus a head-on piston stop for 177 shipped to the door.... nice eh?

Brownnote, I can show you what the 272H10 sounds like in this video of my car. No headers, crossflow muffler, idles at 800 rpm 16" vac. Surprisingly not much different sounding than the performer cam I had in there. There is 5 degrees advance ground in according to the Crane support guy. I installed it 4 degrees advanced beyond that.

Brownnote, I found this desktop dyno report that somebody named Scott from www.74-77camaro.com did and he compared both cams in question against others. I can't post it because I printed it out and dont have it in electronic form but for what it's worth,

Assuming he was using a 327, the 268H cam outpaced the -151 cam in torque and hp up to 5k where it topped out at 326 hp. It blew the -151 away on torque below 5k. peaking at 381 TQ@3500 rpm. The -151 was 313TQ @ 3500. The HP of the 268H was 50 more than the -151 at 3500. Between 5k-6k the -151 took over and made 350hp at 6k.

If you pm me your email I'll email or fax this report to you.
