Is there a clear winner between these heads on the same SBC 355cu., BDS 6-71 supercharger -
World Products Sportsman II iron heads, 200cc intake ports, 69cc exhaust ports Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads, 185cc intake ports, 65cc exhaust ports Both have same valve sizes and combustion chambers. I have both sets of heads, just not sure if it's worth it to pull off the iron heads to try the aluminum. |

Well, the aluminum heads will serve as weight savings, cooler temps and a few more degree's of timing and less detonation. About the only way to tell the difference in the iron heads will be at the track. there might be 10-20 hp difference in the two, but the 6-71 is going to be pumping so much air in, you're going to be hanging on for dear life and no worring about head flow #'s at the moment
Iron heads wont blow gaskets as easy as aluminum's will due to head lift.

Very tough question and not enough info to really make a choice. What kind of fuel do you plan to run? What is the compression?

One thing to consider is if you are going to beat on it a lot if you have a failure that damages a head aluminum is easier to repair.
