Default 68 quarter window chrome trim

2 questions.

1. How do you remove the chrome trim from a 68 Camaro quarter glass?
See highlighted part in the photo

2. If this part is adhered to the glass, what type of adhesive is used?

I hope someone can help.

Similar thread here: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=197100 with respect to getting the chrome to install so maybe a reverse engineering process. Looks like people have used a ton of different methods. Is your factory installed? You might pop over to CRG forums and see what original material was used to affix it .

To remove, tape up glass to protect it, if you are going to reuse it. Then use a block of wood and slowly tap the molding off. Originally the moldings were pressed on the glass with a piece of rubber weatherstrip or what I call glass tape.

I only want to replace the scratched glass.
Is it better just to buy the entire assembly with glass and trim?

Is the current glass beyond polishing out the scratches?
I think Mothers and a few others have DYI glass repair/polishing kits out there. Saw one on Musclecar a while back but don't remember the vendor - think it was part of project Red Sled - so it should be listed on powerblocktv.com

Or check a few of your local glass shops. They should be able to preserve your numbers glass and might be so much cheaper then replacement glass.
