Thanks for the replies. Its grey in color and was 99.00 plus 10.00 shipping. I couldn't believe shipping was only 10.00. The thing is 78 lbs or so.

Ditto on the Costco jack. Friggin' love that thing. The place that services them is in the next town over from me. They're still in stock at my local store.

A friend of mine has this jack and I've used it a couple times. The only thing I noticed is it will settle after a bit so definitely use jack stands if you are climbing under the car, removing a wheel, etc.

On jack stands, I have 4ea from Harbor Freight, their 12 ton ones that go to 24" tall. Got them half off so could not beat them.

DEFINITELY use Jack Stands
No matter who's jack you buy or use!!!

Even my best old Walker can 'settle' just a little after sitting for a few hours - no sure I've ever had/seen a jack that couldn't/wouldn't eventually settle just a little, or even drop all the way to ground if they had some internal wear ...
I had a trans jack do it on me years ago when I ran for some parts and left the trans 'temporarily' just held in the air so I didn't have to disconnect all the wiring and connections ... well, the parts run took longer than expected, I stopped for lunch, the tides changed and the trans-jack settled enough to 'hang' the trans from the kick-down cable and tip it back so (nearly) all the fluid drained out the tailshaft onto my floor and the back-up wiring got ripped out ... lesson learned

Now - back to question ... I have three (3) HFT jacks now; 3-ton, 2.5 ton and a 2 ton alum. (on semi-perm. loan to SIL ...)
The first two are 5~7 years old and used weekly, the last one was bought a couple years ago for an emergency repair over at kids house, and just left there for them. All three have given excellent service so far, not one of them has leaked a drop ...
I have a couple older Walkers at my shop and while the HFT's aren't near the quality (and 'heft') of the Walkers, they raise the vehicles (and a porch overhang the other day ) I need them to and work just fine for the work they were intended for
I've never had one give me any trouble so far.
BUT - I always block and install Jack-stands and then lower the vehicle on to them BEFORE I even think of crawling under

btw - maintaining a jack is very important for long life and use!
Always clean the hydraulic ram of debris before lowering if you've had it under areas you were scraping dirt/junk off at and it's gotten on the ram (another reason to block/jackstand and remove the jack before work).
And make sure to check fluid levels as well as wipe the ram clean and apply a little oil, I use "Tr-Flow", to the cylinder ram while it's extended before storing again.
Make all the pivots and pump contact points have a light coat of oil/grease to prevent wear and problems during operation.
I've also changed the oil in my Walkers every 5~10 years depending on use - it's not hard to do and I think it has helped the oldest one (probably @40 years old now ) last as well as it has.

I have a 2.5 ton HF jack and it's been fine for several years. Anymore, it's not where the jack is made, it's where do you want to buy your Chinese jack. My jack from HF is no better or worse than the Chinese jack I bought at NAPA. If HF has the best deal, go for it.

Surprised to learn that Pittsburgh and Chicago are now in China, though. When did they move?

Harbor Freight is a pretty big company. Hard to imagine they would knowingly sell a crappy jack which could result in a lot of lawsuits no? I would think that something like a jack would have to pass some sort of testing.

I have 2 of the blue aluminum jacks in a couple of my work trucks....I have had each for a couple or three years in outdoor conditions always. They both work great and I really like how light they are.
