Default Redemption Build

Long story short.
I worked (hard, 110* summers scraping paint) at my fathers house painting business from age 9-15.
Without pay other than a promise of a 1967 RS/SS fully restored as payment on my 16th birthday.
15yrs 9 months old... I have the sexiest Black camaro thats 90% restored.
I get into an argument with my father and he sells it.
yeah. good job Pops, ill send you the therapy bills.

16 years later. Im old enough to buy my own project. (had to be another 67)

And found this one.
Factory color Deepwater blue, parchment interior.(will go back black, not a fan of deluxe door panels)

Somewhat of a basket case but its mine.
Huge list of new parts, most still in the box...

Full left quarter panel
Lower valance
New Full Floor pan, and trunk
Tail Panel
Outer/Inner Cowl Panel left side
Outer/Inner Cowl Panel right side
Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust system
Budnik shotgun wheels 17's 8/10
Budnik steering wheel
Detroit Speed upper and lower Tubular control arms
Detroit Speed Front Service kit
Detroit Speed Coil springs
Baer Serious Street Brake System
Powder coated Subframe

So.. got started a few weeks ago

Full floor was amazingly easy to install. Full trunk... never more.

Found most of the front sheet metal. Still need to make a call to ClassicMuscle (love those guys)
Scored a Rear seat today, has some major frame rot.
Stripped the old cover etc..

Also ordered a LM4 5.3 engine that will be here tues.

So yes im excited.
Budget... yeah as my paychecks allow. ( no kids, just let the GF go... priorities )
time frame. I have a car club meet at "The Dragon" July 19th. (yeah good luck right)
oh and im also the Business manager here....
http://www.carolinaclassiccarrestoration.com/ So proper facilities, long nights and busy weekends, im optimistic.

Cool project, and good connections. If you set your mind to it you can make any deadline. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Removed the old Red Epoxy off the doors today. Needs some sandblasting around the bottom edge. Stripped the doors down to the "Shell" too.

Stripped the Bucket seats down the frame.

Blasting tomorrow. Doors, Fenders, Seat frames, hood edges.

Might accomplished more today but it was 65*, so i went for a 70mile harley ride.

After looking at my used org. fenders again, i decided to use reproduction crap.
Found some used SLP headers, radiator and a 4L60e trans local (75mile radius). Just need to find the time to pick everything up.
completely blasted and primed.

Sandblasted the front/rear seat frames
rebuilt and welded the rear seat w/ round stock from lowes. (burned fingertips and sunburned face)
Painted.
Ill have a pic tomorrow.. not that its all that interesting.
Stripped the hood and started bodywork... as you can see.. I really wish i caught the $75 cowl hood on CL in time. (its been reposted for $300)
( i like the look of a flat hood better for some reason)

The aftermarket passenger fenders dont fit at all.
I've had this problem before. Solution is to cut out the spot welds on the a pillar mounting bracket and relocate it.

Found a glass supplier pretty cheap. $500 shipped for gray tinted full set.

$202 shipped from EZ wiring. 21 circuit kit, updated wiring w/ fuel pump etc..

Does the wiring harness mount in the same spot and have the engine harness plug into it.

Or does it mount to the firewall and you use a hole to route the wires to the engine.

GF got in the way but yes im back at it.
There were several broken springs in the buckets also. Nice to know they're fixed rather than just recovering them.

That is a completely universal harness. All engine harness wires are built into it and would need to routed. Does away with the factory wires. Pigtails need to be reused and terminated. We use that kit a lot at CCCR
