Default 73 LT Electronic ignition to HEI Conversion

Hey guys, great site, great forum, thanks for setting this up.

I have a 73LT that has been converted to electronic ignition (by previous owner)

350 V8-Auto
10.5-1 compression, Edelbrock top end kit, 670 holley carb, Taylor HEI Distributor

I now would like to convert it to HEI.

This is a fresh build-nut and bolt 7 year restoration, new engine, never been started.

I'll try to describe to the best of my ability, I am not a mechanic- but like to pretend ----bear with me-------thanks

I have a resistor wire (which is clearly stamped "resistor wire do not cut")
that has been joined in a solderless connector with two other wires.
One is black which comes from a cyindrical resistor type object mounted to the fire wall---this has a brown wire bolted to the other side of it(assuming this is the tach).
The other is a yellow wire which runs to the starter.

What do I do??

New part is the:
HEI distributor from Taylor (max 6500 rpm)

Do I need to replace the resistor wire with a 10 to 12 guage wire or can I use the existing wire and splice it into the accel 2 pin connector adapter.

Do I eliminate the cylindrical object with the brown wire attached(assuming this is the tach) and run directly to the HEI coil area marked tach?

Can I eliminate the yellow wire running to the starter?

What do I do????

Thanks

Dom
