I have a 68 Camaro. It had a 6 cylinder and I have replaced it with a 327/powerglide. Need to know how to adjust kickdown linkage at the carb.. The trans will not down shift into passing gear. Not sure which way the lever on the transmission goes to engage passing gear. At open throttle should lever on trans be all the way down or up? Also trans seem to shift too early. Is this a matter of restricting the vacuum from the intake? Any help would be appreciated.

I had a 67 with a 327/powerglide. I adjusted the kickdown as the manuals said and it never did kick down. I think it is because the RPM was always too high to allow it to kick down. I also disconected the kick down to see what effect that would have and it shifted early like you said yours did. To addjust the kick down the lever on the carb and the kickdown lever both must be at their max forward position when the throttle is full. If they are not the car will shift early and not hold the RPMs through the accelleration from a stop.
