First, this forum is fantastic. When I restored my first Camaro, the only resources were the random guys you'd know from a car show. This is 1000x slicker.
Now my question. I recently bought a relatively original 1969 x33 Z/28 with the goal of making it as original as possible without going overboard on cost. It seems a bit soft at all corners and has that mild left-sag that 40 year old cars get from 150k miles with a 200 lb driver. So, I want to get it back to correct handling and ride height. I've seen a place or two in the past the rehab old springs (heat, reshape, retemper) so people can stay original. Has anyone here tried this? Any advice? Am I smarter to store the originals and simply look for new US made replacements? Thanks |

Just one thing of note, my car sat lower on the left as well. Even with new springs it still sits lower on the left, although its only 1/4" front, 1/2" in the rear. Most people will tell you their Camaro's don't sit level.

Don't bother with re-arching your springs. As you mentioned, the car is 43 years old. I own a 69 Z/28 and did the same thing your looking to do. Contact Eaton Detroit Spring. They can set you up with the original springs for all four corners. You can buy stock ride height or they have options to lower or higher the ride height.
Good luck. Mike |
