I HAVE A 1990 RS. SOMETIMES WHEN I GET DOWN ON IT FOR INSTANCE WHEN I PULL OFF FORM A DEAD STOP, THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE WHICH SEEMS TO COME FROM UNDERNEATH AND I CAN FEEL A VIBRATION ALONG THE CONSOLE. THIS HAPPENS ONLY OCCATIONALLY, AND OTHER THAN THIS THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO SHIFT JUST AS SMOOTH AS THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR. COULD THIS PROBLEM BE SOMTHING OTHER THAN THE TRANNY?

The first thing I would check are your
universal joints. If they are going bad your
drive train will vibrate up through the transmission. At times a drive train vibration
is hard to locate, universals are a good place to start.

I would put money on the trans mount being separated. Replace it, and your problem should go away.
