Nice! Maybe we get a Superbowl in the new stadium... We're a finalist for 2016 or 2017.
From the looks of the tire marks in that second pic it appears you did a 4 wheel drift in the parking lot. Sometimes the urge to exercise power overcomes the good sense to resist!

I understand that the City of Santa Clara has had to use some the $$$ they had set aside for the stadium on other city needs. Is that true?

Nice, the Niners deserve a new place to play... but I am going to miss the Stick'. Lots of great memories in that place, starting with my first Giants game in 1964, all the way to the glory years of the 49ers of the 80's and 90's...

Nice pics....
A new venue costs alot but should generate lots of new revenue so its a toss up. Spend the money and hope to get it all back in time or stay with the old one and repair and keep taking losses. Kev |

What??
No more 'Candlestick'? That just isn't right! Too much history there, just like Yankee Stadium. Those 49er teams of the 80's and 90's in Candlestick was the best football ever imo. I'm not a SF fan, but I really enjoyed watching those teams play....and Candlestick just has a certain aura about it that probably can't be duplicated.

I agree. I know some people are excited about the new stadium, but I hate the idea. Candlestick has a real home team advantage, the cold, wind, fog, etc.. Not to mention teh history. It might be a little easier to swallow if the new stadium were actually close to San Francisco. So what are they the Silicon Valley 49ers now or the South Bay Niners?
They were complaining that the stick was too old and needed too many upgrades, you can't tell me it was cheaper to build a whole new stadium than it was to make a few upgrades to Candlestick. The decision wasn't based on that though. Sign of the times I guess, no loyalty anywhere.

Doesn't look like any car drifting marks. Looks like a spread axle semi trailer made a turn there (IMO).

I posted pics to show it before its built, thought I was the only one against it.
I voted against the stadium, I didn't want it. I completely agree with the love for the Stick. The whole mess sucks and yes the county snatched 30 mil but I quit following the $ trail. I grew up in Santa Clara and watched my childhood orchards turned to concrete. When we played as kids you just grabbed fruit from a tree when you got hungry and kept on playing. Progress I guess but I dont have to like it. They are now extending BART to the southbay which IMO allows thugs from Oakland to now be down here for a dollar. I hate progress! By the way, I was @ the SF game in 91 when Roger Craig fumbled to lose the game. Ronnie Lott blew out his knee and Montana went down. Not one of those 3 ever played for the niners again and the LACK of loyalty pissed me off so bad I've been a Packer ever since. I now realize its business but still not a niners fan-sorry.

I'm a season ticket holder and Candlestick Park sucks !! Blow it up when the new one opens. The parking sucks, the traffic in and out sucks, the restrooms suck, the lines into the restrooms are a mile long and they suck, the sound system sucks, the escalator to the second level works part time. I was there in 89 when the earthquake hit during the world series. The sound system is so broken down that the last game they were playing a song and it was obvious that it was in stereo but only one channel was working so only about half of the song was coming out. You can't understand a thing the announcers are saying. Arrgh !!!!

I really liked watching the games played there on TV, the cold, the wind, and the fog like you mentioned....but let me ask you CA guys that are familiar with the 'Stick...lots of times the field would get torn up and muddy if it was just a light drizzle-I love those kinds of games-was the field below the water level in the Bay or something? Last week during the WS someone posted a pic of the stadium that included the Bay and it looked like the field was lower than the water just a few hundred feet away.....is it like that or was this an optic illusion?

It IS football after all.....you guys are going to mess around and get a fancy-dancy stadium and get what we have in Carolina-the wine and cheese crowd. Afraid to cheer and raise some hades, after halftime most folks leave, etc.... You guys might be trading Candlestick for Candy---.....lol.
