I happen to visit Craigslist last night and found advertised a 67 Camaro SS350 parts car for sale. I immediatly called and went out to look at it in the dark. Sure enough, cowl tag: Interior 732-Z Exterior F-F W 2LG 3SK 4P 5Y...so far so good. Car been sitting since 1987. Now painted black with poorly dyed black interior and looking rough. Engine/trans both gone..(oh well). Anyway, I first noticed a flat hood. Hmm, someone chaged it (?). Then the guy said I just sold the SAGINAW 4-speed..Who cares, just a Saginaw...WAIT! Checvked the speedo hole..NOT on driver's side! It's a L30M20 I shouted. He didnt have a clue what I meant. I check the rear..Weird..Just a 10 bolt. But, a posi unit..Traction bar brascket? Not there..never appears to have been there. Mono springs, sure doesnt look like the rear has ever been out of the car...Strange. Underseat traction bar plate present...hmmmm..Not well-nut in the frame rail thought. Funny, they never just fall out...Back to cowl tag...10C build!!..
Conclusion: Rare, early build L30/M20 with 10 bolt posi! What do you all think? The bought it immediatly..1800.00 bucks..Still has tach and gauges too...

That's correct for an early L30/M20 Gary. It didn't change to a 12 bolt until early March, 1967. More info HERE. (Make sure you read the section labeled "Rear Axle Issues and Front/Rear Springs".)

Can you send me pictures of the VIN, Trim Tag and the axle code? Too bad he sold the Saginaw.

Maybe you can try to track down the Saginaw? If it was me I would even offer a bit more than what it is worth (in order to reunite it with the car) or offer to find them another one and make a trade. Good luck.

Thanks guys. He just sold the trans 2 hrs before I got there.I'm going to ask him to call the guy who bought it and ask if he'd be willing to sell for more. This guy sold the trans, shifter and bell housing for a mere 200.00..I'll keep you posted and get pix when I get the car home. It's still on Craigslist..you can see it under "parts by owner" "1967 Camaro" "Tacoma, WA"

Great , you may have read my story before, my dad bought my older brother a 67 camaro in 1972 all three boys drove the car then it was stolen found with the tires gone. and then put in garage 30 years.I completed the restoration before I knew it was aL30M20 car what a find.this car will never be sold but it is worth more than the plan- jane camaro we thought it was.

Not sure that's the one since it has the SS hood and Gary said his car had the flat hood.

its a flat hood, looks like someone tried to ad the louvers to the flat hood to make it look like an ss hood.....ss hood would have a slight cowl induction like feature to it.

No matter what, that hood is toast. Way beyond repair.

Something isn't adding up. 10C is too early for a L30 M20 to have a 4P code on the tag.

Yes, the hood is a standard one with 67 louvers attached. It fooled me for a bit too..
Speedo cable hole is on DRIVER'S Side..NOT coming out towards passenger's side

Sorry, the build date must be incorrect. It was dark and I couldn't make out the number. I'm not picking up the car until Tuesday, but paid him last night. The VIN is 12377L136549 so much too late for Oct. My guess would be around February (?) Anyway, I'll post everything when I get the car.

I asked the guy to contact the guy who bought the transmission and ask him if you would re-sell for extra $$. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Yes, there is lots of Marina Blue spots around. Same on the inside. Whoever painted it black is a terrible job of prepping!

Looks like that is a late January VIN, so might be an L30/M20 car after all. Let us know more about the car when you get it home. Good luck with the Saginaw!
