Two questions:
#1 I'm trying to decide either to rebuild the 700r4 I have or obtain a T56 and do an auto to manual conversion. The engine I am putting into my 67 camaro is a rebuilt 350 L98 w/ TPI engine. The car is not original so I'm shooting for a fun spirited/reliable driver. The 700r4 would be the easier route. Any thoughts to sway me either way? #2 I'm considering the T56 because it seems like it would be fun to have a manual in a first gen and I found a setup in the area for $1300. Up for sale is a Borg Warner GM 6 speed transmission with a lightly used centerforce dual friction clutch and clutch plate. Centerforce Fly wheel and the aluminum bell house thing that mounts it to a older Chevy engine. The clutch only has 1000 miles on it before i got it. I got it from a guy that had it installed and being used in a old TR-7 with a 350 and this setup. I drove the car and the transmission worked well, i have had it sitting ever since. Also i have a billit aluminum shifter that goes with I've never shopped for manuals so would this be a good candidate and is it worth it? Thoughts? Thanks in advance. |

Both work great. If you like rowing gears go T56. If not then stay with the 700R4.
$1300 for the T56 and other parts is a pretty good deal. Is it hydraulic throw out or manual?

It has a hydraulic throwout bearing. The t56 was originally from a 4th gen LT1 Camaro from what I can tell.

Did you get the clutch master?

I don't think he had that included as part of the sale.
