Cowl tag decodes as follows...
ST 12437= Style 12437 (camaro coupe) NOR=Norwood assembly plant,22524BDY=Body number for plant identification 2nd line... TR 727= Ivory(white) standard interior 71B PNT= 71-Lemans Blue; B-Black vinyl top; PNT= Paint code 3rd line.... 01 B= Second week of January, 1969, production date; X44= Plain Camaro. No SS, RS, or Z28, or Z23 style trim group. Car should not have wheel opening moldings, no roof drip rail chrome, no louvers on the rear quarters, no nothing. The engine should be a 307. Probably either a Powerglide or turbo 350 trans.(has column shift???) VIN 124379N574263 is for a V8 camaro built at Norwood Oh., and was the 74,263rd Camaro built at that plant. The other numbers are not identifyable by my books. The engine should have some numbers up by the alternator, on a machined pad by the front end of the passenger side head. They look like "V1227HA" possibly some smaller numbers there too. These will tell exactly what the engine is. |
