Since it has a March 69 VIN and a 3rd week of October 69 Cowl tag, its not worth anything.

The 69 Z 28 must be the most counter-fitted car of all time. Ebay has them listed daily and it seems like there is no end in sight. Eventually all 69 Camaro's will be Z 28's except for the big block, verts and rare cars. Out of the 20,302 69 Z 28's made, there must be 2 or 3 times that many on the road today. It is amazing since most cars numbers go down with time!

I wonder if I can use what this car sells for as a gauge for what mine is worth. Except mine is a real 12337 car that "IS A CLONE!"

I think seller may have just made a typo on VIN. See ebay listing, photo shows a tag with a correct VIN #12437..... X77 w/69 paint code.

Maybe an honest mistake, seller should correct it soon or it could cost him a serious buyer.

All 69 trim tags on a coupe have 12437 on them. It doesn't relate to the VIN number just the model number for a camaro, either 12437 for a coupe, or 12467 for a convertible. Its a stolen car, someone, somewhere in time swapped a March built 6 cylinder VIN number onto an October Z28.

Google the serial # and the same seller had it listed as a Z28 clone in October. Different car, different trim tag . Hopefully an honest mistake?

Good point. Thanks for the info. You guys really know your stuff! I didn't realize VIN # didn't match the tag! probably not so honest a mistake!

As they say, buyer beware!

Maybe he's using an ad template and forgot to change the VIN in the current ad, there is no picture of the actual VIN tag. If he did, its definately going to hurt the sale price of this Z28 as anyone who knows these cars will know that its a 6 cylinder VIN and that it doesn't match an October built car.

His website lists the 2 different Camaros. It looks like, as Mark suggested, he forgot to change the VIN when changing the add. His descripton on the website appears to be quite honest as he states the block is not original and the console was added.

Good investigative work. I hope that is the case. Quite the typo to make however. You are right, the wrong VIN will hurt the sell ability of it. I hope for his sake if it is a real deal car that he makes the VIN change.

I am still curious what the car will sell for and what the price difference would be, between this car as is, as "The Real Deal" and what it would be worth as "A Clone". How much of a hit would the car take? It's a nice car either way, whichever way the numbers go.

Just in case anyone wants a closer look.

Assuming the VIN matches the trim tag and the engine is original (a 1014 built DZ would be about right for a 10C built car), I would think it should be in the 35 to 40K range. Reason being its loaded with repro hardware, and its missing the smog equipment. if its not the original engine then its probably at its top value now, 30 to 35K.

Wow these cars sure have come down in value over the last 3 years. At Barrett-Jackson 3 years ago this would have been a 60 K car. Numbers match restored cars much like this one were in the 80 K and upward range. Clones were in the 40 to 50K range. I am glad the market has corrected itself. Its bad for those who bought at the top of the market, but good for everyone else. However it does appear that there are a few dealers on ebay that are still asking 2005-2009 BJ prices, like RK Motors. They have a few 69 Z28's listed for big money.

BJ values have never been the real value of these cars. Theres always two idiots that will drive the price of any certain car up to stupid levels. Restored Z28's have probably never been worth more than 50K even at the peak. Survivors with all of their original equipment might reach 70K on the right day. But this one isn't either of those. It's an X77 car decked out as an X33, has a rear mounted antenna (incorrectly located), headers, missing smog equipment, and according to the text of the ad a date coded engine (not original apparently), etc. so its not going to command the top dollar value. It's a nice looking car, but from a value point of veiw it might as well be clone.
