I am looking at buying a parts truck for my 50 pickup. It comes with a 67 or 68 Camaro rearend. I don't need it and was wondering what it would be worth? I don't know the gears or what it came out of other than that. Thanks

If its got a 10 bolt, it's not worth much.
A 12 bolt will bring some money, and if its a 12 bolt posi it's worth even more. There should be a code on the passenger side of the axle facing forward that will decode what it is. There should also be a code on the pumpkin itself. Post those numbers and we can tell you if it's worth $100 or $1500. |

Count the number of bolts used fasten the cover on the rear of the housing.

I did count the bolts and it's a 10 bolt. If I could get $100 I would be happy.

A 67/8 10 bolt would be an 8.2 " differential. I doubt you can give it away. An 8.5" 10 bolt from a later model is worth a few hundred. There's a pic in the following link showing what the 8.5 looks like, post #8.....http://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...ight=rear+axle

My old 8.2" has been behind the garage for 10 years. I'm too lazy to drag it to the curb.

Mine is sitting in my storage unit, waiting for my next run to the scrap yard....lol. Once i get the headlight buckets and other pieces off the fenders and get the innards out of the doors, they'll be going as well.

A fun project is to get a new blade for the Sawzall and cut it up, then it's only a few light loads out to the curb.

![]() If it's a posi you might get something for it but not much.

I have another rear on Craigs List... I might throw it on there as well just for grins.

The camaro rear will not fit the '50 unless someone has changed the spring perches. If so, then the rear will not be worth the price to put the perches back to spec.
PS, I have a '51 3100 project too

![]() They will grab anything metal I drag to the curb. Brent's 10 bolt is still sitting behind my garage waiting for a project car to go into.

Hate hijacking a thread, but... I live on a main artery in our neighborhood so if something even remotely metallic is seen by the curb, it doesn't last 15 minutes, at most. Piranha attack!!
More than once I'll still be walking back up the driveway after putting something out there and someone has already stopped to grab it! ![]() I've helped more than one scrapper load his vehicle.

the weight of that rear end is probably worth a day or two of collecting bits and pieces of scrap metal.
