10.99 1/4-mile (6.99 1/8-mile) or quicker:

-5-point roll bar is still okay to 10.00 1/4-mile (6.40 1/8-mile) in hardtop / t-top with un-altered floors, firewall and frame rails (wheel tubs are okay). If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. or any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of a minimum o.d. mild steel or chrome moly tubing (moly can be a smaller o.d and is lighter but more expensive), see diagram below for specs. Roll cage must be padded anywhere the driver's helmet may contact it while in the driving position, see diagram below for specs.

-Convertibles require full roll cage at 10.99 and quicker.

-aftermarket axles with positive retention (c-clip eliminators) (good there)
-Transmission shield SFI Spec 4.1 at 10.99 and quicker or 135 mph and quicker (blanket is okay, no expiration date) (great )
-Harmonic Balancer SFI Spec 18.1 (no expiration date) (fine there)
-Protective Clothing (SFI jacket with a 3.2A/1 rating, no expiration date) (need to check mine)
-5 point harness (up to date, they must be replaced or re-certified every 2 years; (even on stock/factory seats ?)
-SFI-approved flywheel and/or clutch (no expiration date) (I'm good there)
-Screw-in valve stems (Really ?)
-No tint allowed on window except factory

Don't forget it will need to be certified. Under 10.0 or 6.30. And driver needs a license.

Yes, on both 5-point harness, even with factory seats.
Simpson, when they were Simpson, had an exchange program for belts, a lot cheaper than buying new belts every two years, regardless of brand of belt.

On valve stems, yes, stems with a lock nut on the outside. History had shown when running slicks with tubes, the twist of the tire to tube to the wheel, either pulled the stem inside the slick or cut off the stem as it was being pulled through the hole of the wheel. The stems, including tubeless stems, install like a normal stem, and have a locknut on the outside. Safety reason.

All the SFI certified equipment will remain certified as long as the item is not modifed.
No grinding, no drilling, no touchy. use as is out of the box.

I believe 9.90 and faster needs a competition license

That pretty much sums it up. Once you are in the realm of needing SFI certified parts you are at their mercy to recertify or replace parts after a certain time frame. SFI is a joke.

Once you hit 9.99 or whatever that is in the 1/8th mile it gets more difficult, roll cage, more safety equipment, engine diaper, and of course a competiition license with physical etc.

So you pretty sure you'll be needing all that stuff? . Almost done?

IF it runs where it "should" on paper I'm looking at 10.0-10.3's. Once dialed in, I think just for giggles and to say I been there 9.XX's Time will tell...but for some reason I see a lot of suspension work coming

Yep still need the steel bolt in valve stems. And the seat belt rule stinks but if its fast enough to need a roll bar they want a 5 point in it even with a stock seat. And you replace them every 2 years.

Yep it gets real expensive to go fast.
Our local track closed down 2 years ago and I have kept current on my license but will more than likely let it expire. The next closest track is not NHRA and does not require a license and very seldom checks the car.
Nothing against safety but if you are just going to make a couple passes to see what it will run might want to check to see if you have a "outlaw track" (non NHRA) nearby to run at.

Oh yeah don't forget the helmet has to be Snell rated newer than Snell 2000 or its expired.

Also if it has a cage in it, you have to have a window net, even if the car uns 14's. Yes, you still need metal valve stems ven in tubeless tires.

As mentioned down to 10.0, things aren't too crazy, any faster and it gets a little demanding. As much as I like drag racing, I'm finding it harder and harder to want to participate.
