I recently purchased a 69 Camaro and it has a sporadic problem. Sometimes when the ignition key is turned off the Generator light comes on and remains on and will drain the battery. Just messing around I found that if I press the Emergency brake pedal that the Generator light brightens and if I release it, it dims. If the battery cables are not disconnected the battery will be drained overnight. Has anyone had experience with this before? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Bus,
I think I had the same problem years ago with my 71 Chevelle and it turned out to be the voltage regulator sticking. Next time the problem happens, go under the hood and give the voltage regulator a good whack with a screwdriver handle or something similar and see if the light goes out. If it turns out to be the regulator, do yourself a favor and get a new one from the local Chevy dealer. The aftermarket ones are not real good.
Hope this helps,

Howdy Bill,
Thanks for the help. There were two problems actually. The alternator had gone bad and was sending too much voltage to the regulator, and the regulator didn't know how to handle it. I changed them both and everything is fine now. Thank you very much for the help. Talk to you soon, but hopefully not because something is broken :-(
