i have 67 camaro with third gen conversion. needing the coupler. I have read posts about other couplers and this is what i have found on couplers that MIGHT work.
dorman #31011 $41.79 lee #62429 $79.00 lares #200 $20.00. big differences in prices. any major differences quality and fitment? or is it with paying the almost 100.00 with shipping to Lee's. will the others work just as well. looking for a bolt on application with no mods.

I used the Lares in my upgrade.
It seems to be a quality part. No issues.

There is a GM part, I believe it was a van application. Did you read the info on David Pozzi's site? I will find it and link here...

Pretty much anything GM from 1979 up will work. I think even pickup rag joints work 79-87 & perhaps even newer. GM went to Saginaw fittings and the small PS shaft size on everything, cars & pickups around 1978 or 79. I have seen them in the store in the "help" brand which is Dorman or Motormite. There is a similar but larger OD version rag joint that works but is bulky and may rub the frame in some applications.

I think Lee sells the GM part which is why it's expensive. Either one of the others will work. I have the Dorman one as I was not aware of the Lares at the time.

I used one from a 79 Chevy Truck and it worked perfectly. I think it was between $20-$30.

These production flex coupling assemblies will adapt a power gear with a 3/4 diameter input shaft to your older Camaro.

On my 69 I used the lares# 200 on a used 3rd gen box. It worked perfectly. Came with all of the needed bolts. It was like $25 on Amazon.
Good luck! Ted |

The Dorman part that I purchased had the flat spot machined in the opposite position that it should be in. Returned it and found a different one, dont know what brand it was.
