I have a 69 X11 with an automatic TH 350 transmission. I am interested in installing a manual trans preferably a 5 or 6 speed. What do I need to do to make this work, and roughly how much should it cost? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I swapped the TH350 in my '69 for a Richmond 5-speed. The trans was about $1600 and the Long shifter another $250 from Summit (more now I think) Add $200 for a Lakewood Bellhousing, $300 for a clutch, $50 for a used flywheel, $100 for the clutch pedal kit, $100 for changing the yoke and length of the driveshaft, $150 for a small starter (due to the bellhousing) and whatever you do for a crossmember (I built one) and you're there! After the monetary pain it was pretty straightforward except that with this combo the shifter hits the tunnel and comes out on the corner instead of the middle. I made a patch/hump to cover the new hole and all is well. Good Luck!

I converted my 72' RS from TH350 to 4 sp. manual for $1,000 (including $600 for used Borg Warner Super T-10 tranny and flywheel, Center Force dual friction clutch, and all linkage, pedals and springs) with no revision to the driveshaft, crossmember, or starter.
Pedals and bellcrank can be gotten second hand and then install new spacers, gromets nd sockets from Year One. E- Mail me if you need more advice.

A new article by Wes Vann makes for good reading.
