Hi I have a 1984, and have replaced plugs, wires, distributer cap, rottor cap and have new fuel pump installed. the car is bogging down and almost stalling when accelerating mainly up hills. when going on level or maintaining a even amount of pressure on accelerator seems to run fine... any suggestions... thank you

Did the bog start before or after you changed what you did? If it has been bogging before, look at the fuel filter or a possible plugged exhaust system. The cat. converters in those years are known for plugging up. Does the car have a miss in it at all? If you see a lot of black smoke from the exhaust, check to see that the choke isn't stuck part closed. If none of these fix it, check the timing and/or have the carb rebuilt. If that still doesn't fix it, you could have a flat cam or the engine is just plain wore out. Hope I helped.

The problems started when I changed the type of gas that I used. I do believe that it cleaned out the system and dumped it all into my filter. And yes thank you, that is much help to me. have checked the timing is fine,
also.. no black smoke or smoke of any kind coming from the exhaust.. again thank you. |
