I found the code book that lists the X11 codes for the Norwood only assembly plant. My previous statement is incorrect!

Here is what the X11 could be, it was used for several RPO's.

X11 327 without Z21 style trim group
X11 SS with Z21 style trim group
X11 Z28 with Z21 style trim group
X11 COPO car (Central Office Production Option) as opposed to RPO (Regular Production Option)

ElCamino's original statement about the X11 code was correct. His latest post is incorrect.

X11 indicates any car with style trim (Z21) or Rally Sport (Z22) other than a Z28 or a SS396 car.
X22 was a SS396 with style trim.
X33 was a Z with style trim.

Please see http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml for more detailed information.

Scott, could you post your VIN too? I'll check it to the build date. Thanks.

The codes were first docuemented by Bill Glowacki back in the 80's. The codes appear in print in McNeish's 69 Z and BB book, Hooper's 69 Camaro book, along with a couple of other sources.

You're just a victim of bad information on this one. Heck, just a month or 2 ago, one of the Chevy magazines messed the codes up completely.
The X-codes are discussed on the CRG website, including the purpose of the codes. That's the first you'll ever see the why of the codes. http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#XnnCodes

Thanks for helping to decode these tags!

Thanks Scott! Your VIN matches your build date. Just a confirmation that noone swapped tags on the car.

If you are trying to determine what your car was originally, try this: http://www.camaros.org/diffs69.shtml
It lists all the differences and features of the different models (LM1, SS, Z28, COPO, etc).
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Kurt- I remember laughing when I read that answer in the magazine. I forgot about it, I was going to write them and let them know they were full of it!
