I recently acquired a 69 camaro, it does not have the original engine in it, but i am considering keeping whats in there, it it suits my application. the block number, from in front of the head, is V0411TND. I have been told that the number is the manufacture location, date, and engine/trans type. could you decode this and tell me what i am dealing with here?
Thank you very much in advance chance |

With the last three letters being TND we can assume this. T usually used as a truck application. With three letters we also know that it was for a 70 and up vehicle. I don't have any references here at work but I am sure that someone does and can tell you what the engine came from. The two things I pointed out, I am pretty sure of.

Thank you for your help. The story I was told of the engine's origin isn't true if it is a truck motor, which answers enough for me. It comming out!
Thanks again! chance |

Chance,
Please check the TND. My reference book has no TND, but it has a TNS and TNT. The TNT was a 1970 350 with a 4 barrel carb. Many truck blocks were 4-bolt mains, so you may want to check into this a little further. It may turn out to be a good block to build upon. |

If the engine is running good & make's the power you want, then I would keep it in there! Here in Ky when we build a hot engine we hunt for the truck 4 bolt main engine block's with a steel crank! Who really care's if it came from a truck!
