Anyone ever seen a stamping like this one? Looks fishy to me.

Kinda weird it has 2 assembly date stamps, the P9M21 is Aug. 21st and the P9T30C is Dec 30th. Maybe the case had a problem at the end of assembly and was taken back apart and reassembled at a later date. That could possibly explain the double assembly date stamp. Or maybe the guy just had brain fade when it was assembled and stamped.
Numbers and fonts look OK to me, as a note of interest, i have a friends Los Angeles Z28 in my data base that is 160 cars earlier than yours, and his trans stamp is P9T20C, so the dating looks allrite time wise. The stamps look to be in the same location as his car. Hope this helps.

I went to MMI in Phoenix to learn to be a Harley mech. They said that sometimes if a number gets screwed up in stamping that they will restamp. So probably right just a do over.

Is this a loose trans or is there the car still with it? Z28 or L78?

IT APPEARS AS IF THE AUGUST DATE WAS STAMPED AFTER THE DECEMBER DATE BY THE LOOKS OF THE 2 AND THE 1,I ALWAYS THOUGHT AUGUST WAS BEFORE DECEMBER

EXACTLY!!!!!!
Thats why the numbers, P9T30C are correct for the vin ( as noted in my previous post), obviously the P9M21 was stamped AFTER the other date as Elvis posted, ( which i missed originaly) Good eye Elvis.

I don't agree. Look at the 3 digit. You can see where the material from the 3 stamping flowed back *into* the M. Same with the T. It was stamped in chronological order.
I've seen this 'double date stamp' once before. |

I agree with Kurt, The T and 3 were definitely stamped after the M above it. I think the 0 also looks like it was stamped after the 2 above it although I can can see the arguement for the other way. I think the 1 looks like it was stamped after the C because the 1 looks to be a deeper stamp.
