Question

I just got the OER sub Frame repair kit. After reading some other postings it sounds like most people just weld them on top of the frame. Forgive me because I am not an ace welder, but wouldn’t it be better to cut out the old ones and weld in the new plates? By doing it this way does it weaken the frame or is it just because there is more work evolved?
Any advice would be appreciated!

I havent seen those replacement parts, but you say most people weld them to the top of the frame, instead of takeing the old pieces off and installing the new. IMO, thats because by welding the new pieces on top of the old mounts, for one, its easier, and by doing it that way, you know for sure, that the placement of the tab is dead balls accurate to where it needs to be so when you install the gaugeing pins in for sub frame alignment, everything should fit the way the General had intended it to fit, cause if you take the old mount plates off and install a new one back on and dont get them back in the correct position, the sub frame will never line up(granted theres a bit of leeway).
