Something weird going on here, unless he made a mistake on the casting number.
This car should have a "3956618" block casting number.
GM never even made the "010" block until mid April/69. The casting date makes no sense unless it is L-11-78, which means it is a restamp.
The stamp date seems a little too early also, i have a car that is in my data base that is 530 cars earlier and the stamp is V0125DZ, casting date A-17-9.
His ad shows 1 month between the casting and stamp date, i suppose that it could happen, but usually they are closer than that.
Would like to see a picture of the pad.
Just my .25 worth

Hi Tony,
Forgot to add the 618 casting number in my post.
This is kinda cool,-I have another car that is 100 cars before yours and the stamp is VO126DZ. Casting date is A-18-9 also a "618" block.
Would you mind posting some of your other dates, heads, alt, starter etc?
Thanks.

My 02C car has a casting date of B59. V0211DZ
I would say you are correct, it's too early.

For some reason it seems all 02D cars have most things late. Mine has a March rear axle and a March VIN (by the tables that is). Most other people talking about 02D's here say the same thing.

Tony,
I'm not John Z but as I remember just pop the hood and look down at the steering box. There will be a Julian date code on the top of the box between two screw head looking things in the casting. Mine has a 346 Julian date. My master cylinder is dated 347. My booster is 356.......
It's a Van Nuys car.
