Does anyone know if GM still sells the #3953844 gas tanks or can you confirm when they went obsolete?

You might be able to get them but you probably do not want to.
They go through the GM parts system without any kind of box so they get pretty scratched and banged up. The repro is very good and inexpensive too. I know this is the exception rather than the rule but in this case, I would have no problems using the repro tank on any level of restoration. They are realy nice -Mark. |

I just bought a 68 GM Tank and it arrived looking like it had been through a war before it went into the box it was shipped in. I wish I had read this post a few weeks earlier.

I was going to order a GM tank through Ricks but they told me in advanced about GM's tanks being shipped loose which causes them to get banged up. So I ordered the repro.. looks great and I just had it coated with Line-X (truck bed coating) so it's ready to stand up to anything.
