I purchased a fast ratio power steering gear box at Carlisle Pa. this last year to put in my 69 Z..now I am looking at it and seen the numbers and would like to know if it is the right one before removing the old one...

and on the gearbox is three small numbers..*352*
what is that number?it has the rubber coupler for it.and the pitman arm.....I am changing over from std.

OH BOY I REALLY DID NOT SEE ANY ON THE TOP OF IT...THE ONLY ONES I NOTICED WAS THE ONES ON THE SIDE OF IT...THE TOP IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THEN THE STD GEARBOX.....AND IT HAS A LARGE S ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX FOR SAGANAW....HAVE TO LOOK BETTER...WILL GET BACK TOMORROW..SO IT SHOULD BE ON THE ALUM CAP...HOW LARGE A NUMBER? THANKS

All those #'s are just casting #'s. That box and cover were used for many years.

There's a stamped number on the pad on the cover which tell us the year at least.

HER I GO AGAIN...LOOKED AT A 69 NOVA GEAR BOX THAT A FRIEND HAS..THE PITMAN ARM IS DIFFERENT THEN THE FAST RATIO BOX I GOT AT CARLISLE..SO IT MUST NOT HAVE COME OUT OF A CAMARO AS I WAS TOLD.THE GEAR BOXES ARE IDENTICLE,CASTING NUMBERS ETC...NOW....IS THE NOVA BOX THE SAME AS A CAMARO?IT TURNS LIKE 33/4 TURNS...THE CARLISLE ONE TURNS 3AND SLIGHT FRACTION(EXTRA 1/8)...........ALL KIND OF QUESTIONS FOR NOW........HOW MANY RATIOS WERE THERE?.AND CAN I INSTALL THE FAST RATIO AND PUT A CAMARO PITMAN ARM ON IT?AND SHOULD IT BE A 57/8 INCH PITMAN ARM?.(IS A 57/8 PITMAN A STD. 352 is the day, after that will be one more # which is the year.

They all fit, just put the right pitman arm on and go.
But the Z box was a whole turn faster.

Pitman arm is 3953225, forged arm is 3953227. Center to center measurement is 5.750".
