I am trying to research the numbers of a recently purchased '69 Camero Conv, by a friend of mine. The VIN is 124679N689109. We have found all the info available from the VIN number, but the car has the hidden headlights and some other features, that lead us to believe that it might be an SS or an RS, but we do not know for sure. Lacking the Build Sheet, is there any way we can verify what option packages it might have had originally? Thanks for any help. Ray

Post the Cowl Tag info from the Firewall along with the numbers off the engine and someone will help in the decoding of the car.

Look on the cowl tag (located on the firewall adjacent to the brake booster. Post those numbers, and we might be able to narrow it down. Hidden headlights would indicate RS, but nothing to do with SS.

Virtually no chance for build sheet on Norwood-built car.

X11 is the catch-all X code which could have been any of the following:
1. Plain Jane with Style Trim -- any small block or L6 motor. (The 4 in your VIN 12437 indicates V8.)
2. RS
3. SS350 with Style trim -
4. RS-SS 350

If your original engine is missing, do a search for clues as to SS. They've been described in detail, many times.
