Red face

i tries to post this in another link by accident, here goes again:

hi all,

just pulled some spindles and calipers from a '70 chevelle 4 door for a bud in LV building a
'67. i know that everything between the ball joints are the same, but is the booster and
master the same? i also grabbed the porportioning valve and some small valve next to
the master, but want to know if my friend will need the booster and master. thanks,
Jesse

You will need the master cylinder and porportioning valve from the other car! Maybe the booster also there may be difference in travel inside the booster. You will need to change the porportioning valve becasue the back brakes operate at lower preasure than front disc.

Question

Ok so if i under stand you, the chevelle booster and master will fit the camaro setup? like the firewall will be the same? i already got the porportioning valve from the underside of the chassis, but i'm not sure what the little valve that was on the side of the master cylinder was for so i grabbed that too. but i can get teh booster and master from the junk yard from thesame chevelle for $50. if it will work, then i will probably grab it for my buddy in LV. he has priced a new booster at $129 i think.

thanks for replying. Jesse

Exclamation

thanks for the web site. it should be helpful. i have one other question though. i have beeen talking to my friend in LV and now found out that in deed the camaro is a rear steer. the Chevelle that i pulled the spindles from looks like a front steer(but i'm not sure. i have to go and check.)

now i have been told by several sourcesthat the 64-72 chevelle spindles fit hte 1st gen camaro. but now that i look at them, the caliper is on the wrong side if i were to flip around the spindles. i do remember that he backing plate and caliper mount bolt ontothe spindle, will i have to have my friend move the caliper mount around to accept the proper layout?

thanks again for the information... Jesse

Cool

The valve that is next to the master cylinder should be a metering valve to delay front brake application. This allows the rear drums time to overcome the spring tension.
