Has anyone used the 12" front brake kit with 4 piston calipers from Master Power Brakes. They say it is supposed to fit with 15" rims. I'm putting the PST polygraphite "super" suspension kit in now (just got the pieces in today), and I need to get my spindles and brakes so I can get the front end back on the ground. I was looking at that kit, and it looks pretty good. Just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with the kit, and whether it was worth it or not (it's not cheap)! But it would be worth it if it is an improvement over the standard disc option.

I've looked at this kit too, and it seems like a very good deal for what you get. A complete system with large rotors and the good aluminum 2 piston caliper, I couldn't find a better deal myself, and I've looked quite a bit, I'd say get it.

I went to their website at www.mpbrakes.com/mpjl8.htm and they state 4 piston stainless steel sleeved calipers on the "JL8" kit. Kind of confusing, because they are front discs, not rear discs like the "JL8" option infers. They are the biggest rotors I have found that can be used with stock 15" rims. Thanks for your input, and I think I will get them, but I would like to hear some personal experience on them before I drop the $1,550.

My mistake, for some reason I was thinking about the stainless steel brakes package, Jeg's sells them and I remember someone on this site stateing that Jeg's price is acutally cheaper then buying directly from s.s.b. Did you look into there package this was the one I thought had the best deal, it comes with; master cylinder,power booster, aluminum calipers,hoses, and 12" slotted rotors. I think they are two piston calipers. All this for about $950, sounds good to me, have you checked into this package.

Jeg's is not only cheaper on the brakes, but their shipping is much cheaper (usually free except for very heavy items), but their salespeople are much friendlier. I called SSB twice and both times received a less than friendly reception. I paid 600 bucks for the rear brakes and 40 bucks for shipping and they wouldn't even give me a catalog.

The 12" JL8 brake kit is to duplicate the origonal factory JL8 option which consisted of corvette 4 piston calipers and rotors at front and rear. The rotors are 12" dia by 1 1/4" thick. Compared to the stock camaro 11 X 1" rotors with single piston calipers offered in the standard disc option in 1969.
The single piston setup is fine for street use. The JL8 kit needs the rear discs to match, and is really only needed if you intend to run on a race track.

I have installed a similar system on my 69 Camaro. I used 69 Corvette spindles on modifide lower A-arms(to accept vette lower ball joint) upper A-arms were relocated using guldstrand template and vette upper balljoint. I used a vette master cylinder on the Camaro booster, the stock master will work fine as it is the same as used on the JL8, with one exception, ther is a spring loaded valve that must be removed! The rear features the same approach, 69 Corvette components. Two left hand caliper adaptor brakets bolted to the rear end housing. In my case I believe we used a large flange from a 55 Chevy in place of the stock ends. The only thing I have not worked out are the parking brake cables. Once you have the rear end and A-arms modified everything installs as stock Vette. I did this at an estamated cost of about $1800.00. The main reason I did this is the people at Master Power were VERY ARROGANT and over priced in my humble opinion and said it could not be done any other way! I apolagize for not giving out more detail but I am out of town on business and do not have my notes. If you email me I could give more detail. I am due back in town the end of February.
