I have a 1967 Camaro SS350 clone. The car was originally a six cylinder, but has everything that made an SS except the 12 bolt rear. The car currently has the original 10 bolt 2.73 open rear end with monoleafs. My dad has a 57 Chevy that he wants to sell. His car has a 12 bolt posi with 3.31 gears out of a 71 Nova. He had the Nova rear end brackets cut off and had a set of 57 chevy rear end spring brackets welded on in a jig. I know the 57 brackets are placed too widely to bolt to my springs, but if I have someone cut the original brackets off of my springs and weld them up to the 12 bolt rear in the camaro places, will this rear end bolt right in? I won't have to shorten the driveshaft will I? Also, what would I have to do to install the 12 bolt with multileafs?

just measure the yoke to see if they are the same length. I put an 8.5 10 bolt from a 70 nova and had to shorten the drive shaft about a 1.5". Width of the housings are the same. I won't be to hard to do this job, good luck.

Since you're going to have to cut off the 57 mounts and weld on the camaro spring perch's, make sure you buy the mulitleaf perch's. They are deeper than the mono-leaf type.

I'd be careful when moving spring perches. If not done correctly, your car can "dogtrack" or have all kinds of vibration/driveline problems. Make sure you have a competent shop do the cutting/welding. The pinion angle is a crucial measurement that needs to be taken into account.
As stated, make sure you buy multi leaf perches if you do this. Moser ent. sells them. I believe they are about $50/pair. The width of the rear sould not be a problem. Good luck. ------------------ 70 & 1/2 RS SB406 & M20 4spd 9" rear 70 Malibu 350/TH400 Gold member #103 |

I had a 67 327/275hp 4sp took out 3:08 10 bolt posi and bolted a 12 bolt 4:88 posi no mods direct bolt in and used the same drive shaft.
