Question

What's the best way to get that ugly rubber mat behind my peddles removed so I can put in a carpet f/wall guard? Or do I just drill thru it to find the holes where the screws go in? Below is the part I'm referring too and pic 2 is my floor. Thanks

BTW: Can you believe my new rubber pedal pads have about 50 miles on them. OER crap. The gas pedal looks good because that's the original.

When I put in my new carpet last winter, I just dug it all out with a screwdriver, putty knife whatever was handy. I dont think there is a wrong way. Then I added heat/sound foil and layed the carpet back down. My shiny alum. foil shows a little if you get on your knees and look but its alot cooler too.
Just start grabbing.

There's probably already two hole punched in your firewall for the carpet guard (or whatever you call it) Take an awl or ice pick and find them and screw it down. You can buy the correct length screws from Rick's or any other supplier.

The aftermarket firewall pad fits like a peice of crap, even though it's advertised as "perfect fit, high quality".

I have an original I got out of a 70 Nova w/screws. Didn't 67's come with one of these guards? I don't know why I'd be missing it. Unless the guy that installed my carpet 20 yrs ago took it out but then why aren't their holes? It looks like the original mat. Thanks
