Hello Team!
Are poor brakes a reason why my 84 won't hold during a burn out? the car brakes in traffic and performs ok I guess, but the thing won't hold at all during burnouts. Whats the deal?!!? Thanks in advance Jerry!!

How do you have your line lock installed? The solenoid valve should be mounted after the proportioning valve with the front brake lines plumbed directly to the valve using a tee fitting. If the solenoid is mounted before the prop valve brake pressure will be applied to both the front and rear brakes. Also make sure that you pump the pedal a few times before pressing the switch. You need to build line pressure in the system to adequately lock the front calipers. Unfortunately the old style Hurst roll controls are no longer available. The allowed you to increase the pressure with the line lock on, pump through the valve. Almost all of the current designs offered do not have this feature.

Hey Team!
I forgot to mention its a foot brake... no trans brake on it at all. I really dont want to consider it. I just wanted to know if I got better brakes or even rotors, would it help a burnout. I used to do a pretty decent burnout with the radials on it, but I really did poorly when I put the MT's on it. Any advice?

Now the real reason comes out, MT's. It no wonder you can't spin'em. M/T's are sticky, more so than radials.

Jerry,I don't see that you need to do a burn out. I'm guessing you are sitting in the water box trying to light the tires up. What I do,is roll thru the water and stop outside the box. Spin the tires a little to get some smoke. Do several spins to the staging beams( spin the tires than stop and do it again) and you should be good to go.I use 10 to 12 pounds of air in the slicks.

i once made a nice burnout, but ever since when im driving and take of the thottle i can hear my rear brakes whine because they probably bent because of the heat...
i did it without a line lock also, so beware of those burnouts without line locks

If by change you have a proportioning valve, you might want to give it more front bias. Is your master cylinder properly filled?
Also, with the brakes on firmly but not too strong, try getting the rpms up quicker (jump on the throttle a little faster, and keep the burnout at a higher rpm. Ive noticed personally that I can hold the burnout better. If all this doesnt work and you still cant properly warm up the tires, you might have to get some skinnier ones.

the only reason to make a burnout is for making more trction, but if the tires are so sticky you cant burn them, isnt that just what u want?
making burnouts is like disrespecting your car.
