Hello fellow rodders!! Iam building road racing 1969 camaro and liked to use Vette brakes fiberglass monoleaf rearsprings.Has anyone any experience on these and wich rate would be better 150lbs or 200lbs per inch? the front springs will be 550lbs/inch. The raeason for this is to get as much weight away as possible(like alum.heads and so one..) Thank you!!

I've heard these springs are not for high horsepower use.
I know your car has some good HP have you heard of why they say this?

I would go with the 200lb springs or even stiffer. The fiberglass springs are not rising rate like the stock type springs. So they will give the effect of being softer.

The Guldstrand autocross steel multileaf springs I have are listed at 275 lbs. I would consider that very stiff.

I have the 150 lb vette brakes springs in my car. They feel great. The sales rep told me to run the 200lb springs only if running a big block or a serious small block. I also got the bilstein shocks from them as well (very good also). For some reason they dont tell you that these shocks are reccomended in the catalog. I dont know the part number off the top of my head but they can tell you. I tried to buy the cheaper KYB's but he said axle hop would be unbearable. Hope this helps

I have the 150 lb Vette Brakes springs. I'm also running 10 year old Gabriel gas magnum shocks that came on the car. The springs seem to handle the power just fine. Almost never even a hint of wheel hop - it just hooks and goes. Handles really well, too. The ride is pretty tight but that's got a lot to do with having 45 series tires.

As far as handling real serious HP - I don't know how they would do. I haven't taken it to the drags and I don't dump the clutch at 5k so I'm only familiar with how they react to "normal" agressive street driving. I get on it hard here and there, launch it from 2 or 3K but don't try to melt the tires all the way, and generally have a good time while trying not to break anything real bad. For that kind of driving the springs are working great! The only reason at this point I would change them is to get de-arched springs and lose my lowering blocks.
