Who's traction devise works best on a leaf spring 1st generation? Southside lift bars?, slapper bars? Tri-city superstock springs? etc? What brands cause problems? I am not too concerned with cornering just strait line accelaration. Thanks in advance for any help

Everyone says Caltracks are the best traction devices for leaf spring cars but they are around $320, also look in the new summit for a take off of these devices made by competition engineering p.190.

What the heck are "caltracks" do they work similar to a slapper bar. Has anyone out there used them? How do they compare with everything elese out there i.e. slapper bars, southsidelift bars, and superstock springs? Please help

replacing the front eye bushing with a solid alluminum bushing in place of the squishy rubber one will help a lot with traction bars. I am not sure on the first gens. but on the seconds I have had the best luck with the traction bars from Comp. Engineering. Although I machined my bushings I think that Moroso makes them. See ya' at the strip!!

I have cal tracs on my 67 and they really made a diff over comp engineering ladder bars
To take advantage though you really need to be running 10" slicks. They supply you with an aluminum front bushing in the kit.

Thumbs up

The Cal-Tracs and Competition Eng's "Slide-a-link" have basically the same principle, only the Cal-Tracs have a few differences that make them a notch better.
They are expensive, but by the looks and reviews, they're worth it.

Joeyj, I'm sorry.

I'm from the big city of Anchorage!

How did the 10" slicks work with your Caltracs? I've been eyeballing the BF Goodrich drag radials, I just don't want to lose my cornering capability or wet traction.

Geez Car Dude...Why would you be worried about wet traction in Alaska!! With ET Drags and Cal-Tracs my friends 69 Camaro with a 454 and TH400 with 3000 stall will pull the left front on launch. As for cornering..I don't think he worries about that.
